# nVidia card and Mac drivers

Hi All,  
  
Does anyone have experience of vertical refresh rates achievable   
using the video drivers that come with the latest generation of Mac   
G4 models - those with the nVidia GeForce graphics card?  
  
We are at the point where we are thinking of switching full time from   
our present VSG system, to the Psychophysics Toolbox under Matlab 5.2   
IF we can achieve a high enough frame rate to work with insect vision   
(minimum of 180Hz, but preferably 200Hz). A number of standard CRTs   
now support 180 or 200 Hz vertical refresh, but the ATI drivers on   
our older blue and white G3 mac won't go more than 120 Hz.

No. However we have been using Villagetronic's MP860 and MP960 cards for  
Macs that support a frame rate of 200 Hz at 1024 x 768 resolution.

Which monitors are those? The fastest I could find when I looked last  
year were 160 Hz (which we use with the VillageTronics cards). We looked  
for a monitor that could support 200 Hz, but there did not seem to be any.
