# PTB on MacBook Pro with Catalina 15.7

Hi,  
I got PTB (Version 3.0.16.8) running on some MacBooks Air with MacOS Catalina 15.7 on Matlab R2019b, Update 7 - with some struggles, of course, but finally we got it. I have severe problems with MacBooks Pro (MacOS X 10.15.7 Build 19H2 with retina display, grafic card: Intel Iris Plus 645) with the same software configuration. Calling

> > Screen(‘Screens’)

returns “Unexpected unknown exception from MEX file…”. Even setting the verbosity level to 5 gives no more information than this message.  
Any ideas?

P.S. It is not intended to perform experiments on these MacBooks, it’s just for teaching purposes…

Hi. Please update to the new PTB 3.0.17 and retry. 3.0.16 is now end-of-life and unsupported since yesterday.

The error message doesn’t make any sense, except that it is indeed “Unexpected”. PTB 3.0.17’s mex files are now built and tested on 10.15.7 Catalina, maybe that somehow makes an unexpected but pleasant difference.
