# Question about contrast threshold demo

Dear Profs. Brainard & Pelli,  
  
 I am an undergraduate student of cognitive psychology laboratory at  
Sophia university in Japan.I am writing a graduation thesis about  
hemispheric asymmetry in detection task. To do this task, I need to  
measure a threshold of an individual subject and I decided to use  
contrast threshold demo to measure subject's threshold.But since I am  
not pshychophysician, I can not tell what kind of method is used in the  
Quest procedure.I have looked up some books and I thought the method  
used in the Quest procedure is Maximum-likelihood procedure.Is my  
thought correct? If not, I would be greatful if you can tell me what  
method is used. I have to hand my graduation thesis in december.So I do  
not have much time left, please help me out.  
 I apologize for asking such a basic question.
