Way back in June of 2005
([http://tech.groups.yahoo.com/group/psychtoolbox/message/3513)](http://tech.groups.yahoo.com/group/psychtoolbox/message/3513)), Denis
opined that it probably wouldn't be too hard to modify the DAQ Toolbox
to work with the 16 bit version of the A/D device the toolbox was
written for (the USB-1208FS nee PMD-1208FS). I've just purchased a
dual core Mac Pro and am looking to use it for physiology as well as
psychophysics. I think I need better than 12 bit resolution, so I'm
wondering if it's really true that no one has extended the DAQ toolbox
to work with the 14 bit or 16 bit Measurement Computing devices.

Alternatively if anyone would like to recommend other possible A/D
devices I wouldn't mind hearing about experiences both good and bad.
I've been considering:

National Instruments:
 PCIe-6251 ([http://sine.ni.com/nips/cds/view/p/lang/en/nid/201813)](http://sine.ni.com/nips/cds/view/p/lang/en/nid/201813))

 USB-9215 ([http://sine.ni.com/nips/cds/view/p/lang/en/nid/13881)](http://sine.ni.com/nips/cds/view/p/lang/en/nid/13881))

LabJack:
 UE9 ([http://www.labjack.com/labjack\_ue9.php?prodId=26)](http://www.labjack.com/labjack_ue9.php?prodId=26))

Other options I know of are a lot more expensive or would likely
provide larger compatibility hurdles. I'm leaning heavily toward the
USB-1608FS because of Denis' DAQ Toolbox. Ultimately I want to
synchronize data collection with PsychToolbox-generated stimulus
presentation, so the DAQ Toolbox is a real selling point for the 1608FS.
If it really wouldn't be much trouble to get it working...

Thanks for any and all advice!

the measurement computing usb-1608fs is listed as supported by
matlab's data acquisition toolbox:

we have great luck using matlab's data acquisition toolbox with any
national instruments hardware, never had a need to try anything else
(except the parallel port :).

Thanks, but I wasn't talking about that toolbox... TheMathworks Data
Acquisition Toolbox only supports Windoze:

I was asking about Denis Pelli's Daq Toolbox:

Has anyone tried to use that toolbox with a USB-1408FS or USB-1608FS?

Thanks!
