ATI Radeon 9800 PRO MAC Edition & 200Hz-refresh rate / 10-bit output

Dear PsychToolBox Users,

I'm thinking of getting ATI Radeon 9800 PRO MAC Edition (info is
available at
http://www.ati.com/products/radeon9800/radeon9800prome/specs.html)
for G4 1.25 single GHz.

According to the brochure, this card is supposed to support "200Hz
refresh rate" with 1024x768 pixels, but I wanted to make sure whether
this is really true.

FYI, I confirmed that my monitor could handle 200Hz input when hooked
up with Ati Radeon 9600 series on a Windows platform

Another important question is whether this card supports 10-bit video
output signals.

I would greatly appreciate if anybody has used this card with Mac G4
and succeeded in getting "200Hz refresh rate" & "10-bit video output".

Sincerely,

Sang-Il,

DO NOT put a MAC video card in a PC. At best, it won't work; they use
different kinds of firmware in the chipsets that go on the various
video cards for each platform. At worst, you'll fry the card and it
will be dead and won't work in any computer with any OS, and you'll be
out the money you spent on the card. Get a card specifically for a PC
if that is what you're using.

This is a bit off topic but since the issue came up: changing card from
pc to mac (and vice versa, but I have a hard time thinking up a
situation where you'd need to with the amount hardware options
available to pc users) by "fixing" the firmware. A good article on the
topic can be found here
(http://www.macobserver.com/editorial/2004/01/21.1.shtml) and might be
useful to some one searching for an end of life ATI video card for an
older mac looking to get 10-bit LUTs.
