eyelink('initialize')

Hi,

I've just started trying to use the eyelink toolbox in matlab to
control the eyelinkII

eyelink('initialize')
isn't working for me, and is returning 10022
(it is supposed to return 0 if it worked, -1 if it didn't)
- calling
eyelink('shutdown');
informs me "System was not initialized!"

The thing is plugged in, and can run SReyelink demos from this machine.

What am I doing wrong?

Thanks.
Alice.
Further information

I'm using Matlab 7
on a PC running Windows XP professional

The matlab paths are set to include psychtoolbox and eyelink and all
their subfolders

Thanks,
Alice.

Alice,
Did you install the correct PC version?
did you check whether in eyelinkbasic directory there is (only)
an eyelink.dll and not an eyelink.mex file?

Can you initialize (e.g. eyelinkexample.m in dummy mode? Eyelink(" initializedummy")?

Alice,

Do you get an error message after calling eyelink('initialize'), other
than the 10022 error ?

For example, if your client PC is unable to open a connection to the
eyelink PC, you should get this message:
EyeLink: Initialize: Cannot initialize link system
