Fwd: [PSYCHTOOLBOX] NS5.2 compatibility

oops, now I have sent it to the list anyway, but I’d appreciate your response.

Thank you,

Dear Nick,

I hope it is okay that I approach you off the psychtoolbox list about this.
I have just started a new job, that came with an already established EEG laboratory with an EGI system. I’d like to use my old experiments programmed with Matlab/Psychtoolbox, but I haven’t been able to send any triggers presumably because of sync deviations of about 18-20 ms (but maybe something else).
Have you been able to solve your issue or found a work around? I’d be most grateful if you could share your experience or have any advice on setting up communication between psychtoolbox and the EGI acquisition software.
Also, if you have minimal working script that presents a stimulus and sends a trigger that you are willing to share - that would be great for me to have a template to go by.

Thank you & kind regards,
Urte

Any change in netstation compatibility this?  I've working with Netstaion 5.2 and have had success getting usable times saved for the transmitted TCP events, however I'm consistently getting synchronization warnings saying that 2.5ms synch was unsuccessful, and a max sync deviation is 7ms.

I've run a photodiode test, and get ~12ms offset from the TCP events to the actual flip of screen measured on the photodiode.  The max error on this is about +/- 7ms, which I guess is due to the synchronization issues.

So, is there any progress on this?  I have a contact at EGI I can follow up with on the suggestion that the datatype for the synchronization has changed, but wanted to see if anyone else has had any success with getting netstation 5+ working with PTB.

No fix yet. And to my knowledge there's not a fix forthcoming soon.  I currently don't have access to a system and the groups I work with still use version 4, and don't have any near term plans to upgrade.

I'm happy to provide any help I can.   I've been in discussion with a NS5 user and from the logs/reports I've received it appears the TCP/IP protocol has changed. The user tried to get specifications from EGI of the change but hadn't gotten the information. I'd suggest you try to get EGI to provide the new TCP/IP specs.

Specifically, it appears that the datatypes for the synchronization and/or timestamps have changed to a larger datatype.

Cheers,
Justin

Hello,

I am trying to send triggers from Psychtoolbox to Netstation 5.  I saw this topic has been previously covered (and not that long ago).  When I send my triggers they end up in the recording file, but with severely erroneous negative times just like the previous posters.  Has anyone been able to come up with a fix for this?
