I am trying to revise some code from PTB2.54 to PTB3 and need to find a substitute or workaround for GetEchoNumber and GetEchoString. I used these functions to collect text (up to about 16 characters long) and number input (single digit) from subjects as they rated stimuli. I do not want to use inputdlg because I think producing that during the stimulus presentation will cause a lot of problems in the long run, but if someone is collecting ratings using that and is happy, I'd love to hear from them.
Alternately, if it is within my (limited) capabilities I could have a try in updating the code, if someone could send me a copy of the olden-code, since I no longer have PTB2.54 anywhere around.
I saw some posting from 18 and 12 months ago about this, but no resolutions.
Suggestions? Ideas? Olden-code attachments?
