New computer built

Hi, My name is terry.
We have an plan to buy new fast computer to display fast stimulus (e.g., 20 or 30Hz or ...more high temporal frequency).
I have been thinking about the processor (i.e.,Intel Core i7 975 Extreme Processor BX80601975 - 3.33GHz, LGA 1366, 6.4GT/s QPI, 8MB L3 Cache, Quad-Core, HyperThreading), which is new chip.

I just wonder whether or not this processor work well with Matlab psychophysical tool box without any problems.

Could you have any ideas or suggestions regarding this issue?

I am not an expert on such things but I know that it will depend on the
operating system. Please tell the list what operating system you will
use.

Hi Terry,

 

It’ll depend more on your graphics card and display than the CPU. And for frequencies of 20-30Hz, basic computer hardware will do just fine anyway (easily 60-75Hz, and up to 100Hz), depending on the complexity of your stimuli.
