NVIDIA GeForce 4?

dear ben

your web page says,

"The GeForce4 has 10-bit DACs as well! I have contacted NVIDIA."

as far as i can tell from the NVIDIA site, there are two different Mac cards:

GeForce 4 MX
GeForce 4 Ti

I think the Ti is $400 and the MX $300 (not sure). both are now
available, but i'm not sure whether they're retail or only from
Apple's build to order.

do you know which has 10-bit DACs. both?

best

Dear Denis, Ben,

We have a GeForce4 MX which I tested
TimeVideo, ScreenTest and Ben's new
TestGamma on. They all reported 8 bit
DACs in 9.2.2 and in 10.1.3 classic mode.
So they must not have incorporated 10 bit
support in their drivers yet. At some point
I will try 10.1.5 classic when I get a chance to
download it.

Both cards are Build to Order options only
right now. Apple is supposed to begin selling
the 4 Ti separately but I haven't seen it posted
on their web site yet. The Ti is an extra $250.00
as an BTO option. Take care,

Doug Taylor

P.S. to Ben. TestGamma did not restore the Gamma table
properly when I chose the 0 option. It restored properly
when I chose the 1 option. However the 1 option gives
white and black bars on the Radeon 8500.
Both option report success on the 8500.
