Hi. I'm using PsychPortAudio to present auditory stimuli and I have a question about timing accuracy. I don't need very low latencies, but I do need to be sure that the sounds are
presented for the expected duration (e.g., that a 10-ms beep actually plays for 10 ms). Should I follow the advice for low latencies, or is this a different issue? And is there a way of measuring when a sound offsets without using an external recording device?
The PsychToolbox Wiki section on timing precision with PsychPortAudio still ends with this teaser: "The following sections provide you with information about how to use low-latency, high precision mode efficiently... to be continued, stay tuned ... " Is this likely to be updated? There have been so many questions about timing on the forum that it's difficult to find all the useful advice.
Many thanks for your help,
Kate.
