Dear All,
We have a G4 PowerMac with the standard built-in ATI Rage Pro video
card in the AGP slot (not the very latest G4 incarnation, but neither
the first one: bought the machine Q1 2000, i.e. the one with
dedicated AGP slot). By itself, it works well (i.e. fast and the
PsychToolbox demos run !)
To have one monitor for experiments, another one to control them
from, we installed a ATI Nexus 128 in one of the PCI slots, and
installed the latests ATI drivers + extensions.
Lots of trouble:
- system crashes *very* frequently
- after each crash, both monitors return to VGA (640x480) mode,
messing
up the Desktop
- CopyBitsQuickly much slower than CopyBits for Nexus card (factor
2-3)
- some/most of the PsychToolbox demos either won't run or have jagged
text, jagged motion and inverted contrast etc. on *both* cards
Three questions:
1. Has anyone experience similar problems with the ATI Nexus 128 ?
2. Has anyone managed to have two video cards behaving properly
within
a G4 Mac ?
3. If someone anwers "yes" to 2.) would they mind telling me which
ones
they got to work ? (has someone got a Formac ProFormance 3 ?)
Any help/info/news would be much appreciated,
Cheers,
felix
