Beginner and basics

Hello All
I am student at Mysore University and have started my PhD 8 months ago,
working on cognitive psychology.
I was recommended Psychtoolbox and would like to use that to perform
psychophysical exptts, in addition to setting up stimuli for imaging
exptts.I have a faint background in MATLAB programming and thats that.
My primary aim in using Psychtoobox box is to make visual stimuli of
various shapes and sizes, colors ,- move these about, etc and measure
reactions times and other responses to such stimuli, using key presses.
But right now, I dont have a clue how to go about it.and I found the
discussion in group to be amongst advanced users.BTW, i use a PC.
My queries are:
1.How do I incorporate Psychtoolbox into Matlab..so that psych
funsctions can be called at the Matlab console.
2.How to go about learning to do the things that I intend to do...as
broadly mentioned above.
Any help /advice/resource will be welcome.

Hi Cecilia,

I periodically teach classes or seminars on the use of Matlab and the
Psychophysics Toolbox. In the past, I've used the OS9 (also version
2.54 for Windows) of the Psychophysics Toolbox, but this summer I am
switching to the OSX version. The seminar is structured as a self-
paced tutorial using lab notes that I write up, and I can make these
publicly available. The notes are intended to be relatively self-
explanatory. I can't promise that I will be able to support your
questions, but feel free to ask if you get stuck.

The lab notes are posted here:

www.rcbi.rochester.edu/~ks/ptb.htm

The seminar is currently in progress, and I will post a new set of
notes each week. I will also post links to the old OS9/Windows notes.
