Color based stereo mode with intel iMac Radeon X1600 broken?

Hi,

I am running into a strange problem here. I have a second monitor (CRT) connected to my
iMac (Intel, with a Radeon X1600) to test 'experiments in programming progress'. Currently, I
am no longer able to use stereo mode based on color seperation (red-green, red-blue,
whatever). Mirror stereoscope separation still works, but all the colored options just display
in white rather than the color they should be.

I have tested the CRT with my powerbook and then it still works fine, so the problem must be
with the iMac. It used to work before, but I hadn't used stereomode in a while and now I have
these problems that I cannot relate to any specific update. It does not just happen with my
own programs; the StereDemo has the same issues. Mirror mode does not solve anything
either. I am running leopard 10.5.5, matlab R2007b and PTB 3.0.8.

What am I missing here?

thanks in advance,
Chris
It's a bug, introduced in one of the latest beta updates,
due to interaction with a new feature. It affects all
systems in an anaglyph stereo mode.

Its already fixed and will be part of the next beta release.
However, the anaglyph stereo which is demonstrated
in StereoDemo is mostly meant for owners of old
graphics hardware and only provides simple anaglyph
support.

Give ImagingStereoDemo(8) a try. Its nearly the same
as StereoDemo(8), and nearly the same code, but uses
the more advanced anaglyph stereo implementation of
the imaging pipeline, which gives you much more control
over the anaglyph rendering for a better color separation
and other funky things:

help SetAnaglyphStereoParameters

for an overview. This works properly with current beta
on your hardware.

ImagingStereoMoviePlayer is a stereo movie player
for Quicktime movies which shows some of the
really cool anaglyph rendering methods which even
allow some partial color reproduction. Good demo movies

A short follow-up on the problem. My colleague downloaded the lates PTB and tried the
stereodemo on his Intel Mac Pro with an NVIDIA GFORCE 7300GT videocard resulting in
the same problem. He also uses matlab r2007b and leopard 10.5.5, so it's unlikely to be
the specific videocard that's causing the problem.

The problem is absent on a PowerPC G5 running Tiger or a Powerbook G4 running
Leopard which causes us to believe it's an Intel problem arising from one of the last
leopard updates (It ran on my intel imac before), but I do not have a clue which critical
update caused the problems.

Hope this helps,
Chris

Thanks Mario,
That works just fine!
