DONATE: Griffin Powermate Demo

The Griffin PowerMate is a machined-aluminum rotating knob which
communicates with a computer via the USB bus. It can be used with
Matlab and the Psychtoolbox on Macintosh. I have attached a simple
demo to this message.

The PowerMate might be useful as an alternative to collecting subject
input with the keyboard or mouse.

For more info, see:

PS. Griffin also supplies drivers for Windows, but they are still
working out the bugs.
Hi Allen,
Is the demo code still available/downloadable?
I recently purchased Griffin Powermate and would be really grateful to have a demo to start with.

Thanks,
Yang

The Psychtoolbox Forum has not retained that attachment and I no longer have it.   Two places to search for it are early revisions of the Psychtoolbox subversion repository and Psychtoolbox versions released after I posted that demo, those are located here: http://psychtoolbox.org/PTB-2/download.html#OS9

Even if you can uncover that demo it might not be the best starting point because all of the underlying stuff which it depended on has changed.  You might do better to follow up on more recent Psychtoolbox forum posts discussing the Powermate,  search results for those are  here.

Best would be to talk to the Powermate directly using the PsychHID function.  The old demo instead relied on a configurable utility supplied by Griffin which works as in intermediary between the Powermate  and applications.  It reads from the Powermate and directs simulated, user-configurable,  keyboard notification events at applications.

Good luck.
