MATLAB for Mac OS X?

Please note the discussion thread in comp.soft.sys.matlab entitled
Will Matlab run on Macintosh OS X? posted by me on 3/21/01. In it, a
user says it will be quite easy to recompile MATLAB for Unix/Linux
for the PowerPC. If so, the number of paying users for Mathworks
profitability cannot be that high. Is it possible for this group
make a combined petition to the Mathworks to compile/support MATLAB
for OS X?
