[psychtoolbox] Eyelink Toolbox

The EyelinkToolbox is a collection of m-files and a Mex file that
can be used to control the SMI-Eyelink© gazetracker.

The Toolbox can be downloaded via the PsychToolbox website
((http://www.psychtoolbox.org/)
then choose the Eyelink button to go to the download page).

EYELINK is a MEX file, which can be used as an interface between the eyelink
and matlab. The EyelinkToolbox uses the same approach as the SCREEN
mex function
provided in the PsychToolBox and also uses the
functions provided by this toolbox for doing any graphics involved
(so you need to
install the PsychToolbox for the EyelinkToolbox to function properly).

Note that this toolbox is NOT provided nor endorsed by Sensomotoric Instruments
(http://www.smi.de/), the supplier of the Eyelink gazetracker, so do
not contact
them about this. Rather, post questions on the PsychToolbox
mailinglist, or directly to us.

We're interested to hear about your experiences with this toolbox. If
you're interested in the c-source code of this project, we will be
glad to send it to you. Note that the current toolbox is mac only,
but if there is sufficient interest, we could be persuaded to also
develop a PC version.

Hi Charles,

Glad we published this just in time to save you some work!

It should work with your system (ours is from about the same time). I
have an identical setup as you, a mac to present stimuli connected to
a PC via ethernet.

If the download doeesn't proceed automatically, you can always try
the option to "download this link to disk" (or something of about
that wording).
Then use stuffit expander to expand the archive. This works in any
case (just tried this). I'll look further into this tomorrow.

Good luck,

Frans

Hi Frans.

Downloading it and dropping it on Stuffit Expander works. The problem I
had initially was that, despite the file having an .sea extention, it
downloads as a "Simpletext Read-Only" file. Needless to say, double
clicking on it does not cause it to self-extract. Also, clicking on the
download link gives me a page of nonsense characters. To get the
download I have to do as you say above: click-hold on the link and choose
from the context menu.

Anyway, I've got it downloaded and extracted now and it looks very nice!

Thanks,
Charles.
I changed the Eyelink Toolbox archive to a stuffit (.sit) file, and
IE5 downloads it now automatically.

Thanks, let us know if you have any suggestions or find any bugs.

Hoi Frans,

Hi,
I hope this is the apropriate place to put this question, even though
it is not directly related to the Psychtoolbox.

Does anybody know whether the Eyelink toolbox has moved? I dont seem
to be able to connect to
cornelis.med.rug.nl/pub/eyelinktoolbox/ .

Best Regards
Andreas
Andreas,

Last I heard, a tardy server was the problem,

Best,

Chris
