PTB for playing videos and collecting reaction time

Hi everyone,

I am looking into getting MatLab and using Psychtoolbox for the Mac,
but before I do I wanted to check to make sure it fits my needs.

It's fairly simple in principle: I need to collect reaction time
data on how fast people can detect particular events in videos of
filmed human action. Thus, such a program needs to be able to do
two important things:

1) be able to collect reaction time simultaneous with the
presentation of a video file
2) have accurate timing functions such that I can be sure of the
discrepency between a person's key press and a particular time-
locked event in the video

I was using Psyscript previously, and discovered that when it calls
up a video file there is a variable delay introduced, and so I
cannot be sure of exactly when the subject sees the particular event
in the video (down to the millisecond). Quite frustrating! I was
told by by the author of Psyscript that it was a quicktime issue,
and that he knows of no solution. Thus, I need to be sure that
Psychtoolbox can handle this operation on the Mac.

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
