Request for testing and feedback I - Urgent

Hi Intel Mac users,

if you have Leopard 10.5.8 and/or 10.6.x with a ATI Radeon HD card (or also a Radeon X1000 series card) installed and you use a Dual-display setup, then please download the Screen.mexmaci file that i stored in the files section of the forum under "ATIDualDisplayBugTest".

-> Put the Screen.mexmaci into your current Matlab working directory.
-> Run PerceptualVBLSyncTest(0), then PerceptualVBLSyncTest(1), then PerceptualVBLSyncTest([0,1]);

Please report back if it works for you without errors/warnings about timing or timestamping problems, but also if you encounter such problems. Please include a description of your machine type, operating system and graphics card name.

Background:

There were bugs on ATI Radeon HD cards (maybe also older Radeon cards) for dual-display setups under Leopard 10.5.7. Apple engineering claims the bug is fixed in 10.5.8 and later and asks for confirmation. I don't have an ATI based setup to test this, and the setup of the user who kindly helped to test and investigate the bug can't test again because his machine has hardware problems.

Current versions of Screen in current 'beta's simply disable the mechanism as soon as they detect any 10.5.7 or later system with ATI graphics and multi-display setup.

Deadline:

As multiple attempts in bugging other people to test this were unsuccessfull and Apple is waiting since almost a months for feedback, i will set the deadline to coming monday, and will report back whatever the results are up to that point. If i don't get any test results until then, i will faithfully assume they managed to fix the bug and will close the bug report as fixed. If anybody finds the bug to persist after that time, too bad for you, my setups work perfectly.

thanks,
-mario
