Recently we performed a calibration of the PC's GetSecs timing routine
in our lab. We programmed Matlab to start the GetSecs timer and
generate 1000Hz tone through our TDT system. The tone was also routed
through a frequency counter (calibrared). Pressing a key stopped the
timer and interrupted the tone. The reading on the frequency counter
is the objective measure of time passed since the initiation of the
tone. Comparing the timer and the counter reading (500 observations),
we got a correlation of 1 and an average deviation of 1.6 ms depending
whether the timer or tone were activated first.
