SPAM in forum

dear psychtoolbox members

sorry about the spam (unsolicited advertising) we all received. i deleted
the message (873) from the archive. at present the psychtoolbox forum is
unmoderated, allowing all messages to go through immediately. so far,
we've been getting only a few spam messages a year, which has seemed
tolerable. if the level of spam rises enough to be annoying, we'll have
to begin moderating, which means that every message will have to wait
until allen ingling approves it. alternatively we could accept messages
only from members, allowing everyone to join. but that might discourage
queries from newbies, which would be a shame.

so, at present, we're keeping the forum wide open, unmoderated, open to
all. we hope everyone will agree that it's worth putting up with a tiny
bit of spam in order to retain that freedom. allen, david, and i will
keep monitoring the situation.

best

denis

NOTE TO ALL: denis.pelli@... is my preferred email address. Please
use that address. My "verizon.net" address will go away soon, partly
because Verizon forces me to use that as my "From:" address. My current
email program won't allow me to designate a separate "Reply-to:" address.
