I’ve recently updated matlab from 2018 to 2020b, and installed PTB3 which we use for some experiments. However, since the update I’ve run into issues with showing videos using PTB. In one case, the video simply didn’t play, instead only showing 2 white spots in the center of the screen, despite running a script that worked previously, before the update. On a different experiment, the video did work but with no sound (despite there being sound and the volume being turned up), again a script that previously worked without issue. I was wondering if anyone else has encountered these issues as well, and perhaps managed to resolve them somehow?
I’ve installed Gstreamer which I know is required for videos using PTB as well.
Its on Windows 10. I’ve also learned that the experiment that ran without sound did run with no issues after the update to 2020, but only now stopped working.
Sounds more like some issue unrelated to the Matlab R2020b upgrade then, if the experiment without sound continued to work for a while. R2020b was tested wrt. video playback successfully at some point, so should generally work.
Yes. it seems that way. After trying some more things, it seems the PTB demos work, including with sound, but if I run the movie demo using my own videos, the audio issue returns. I’m using a video that was used in an experiment 2 years ago which I know had no issues with audio, and yet there is no audio.
The video is in .mp4 format, which was fine previously. Is it possible that the issue comes from that?
Another point of interest is that MATLAB doesn’t appear in the volume mixer when running these videos, while running the demo for example does make MATLAB appear there.
