Cant install run Psychtoolbox in matlab

There are missing files. No it is not g streamer. when you download the files from the site, you do not get all the folders. There is one missing, what is it. You may have to add that separately.

you probably downloaded the wrong file. follow the instructions carefully

Thank you for the response. A professor added some files last time this happened, I just do not remember what they were. I have the toolbox on my computer along with g streamer. He said you need these other files, but I cant remember what the name was or how to obtain them. Maybe it is related to my task. I have adapted the change detection task to a continuous report working memory task. I had this issue before. The error kept saying invalid mex files. but the mex files are in the PsychBasic folder which is on my computer. Would anyone have any idea. Thank you.

Is it possible for someone to walk me through the process and help me install the program? Where could I get this kind of support?

It is unlikely you will get someone to walk you through step-by-step. As the instructions are very clear and go through things step-by-step.

I would suggest two things:

  1. In Matlab go to the Psychtoolbox folder (so it is your current directory) and run “SetupPsychtoolbox” without the quotation marks. Follow the onscreen instructions, answer “yes” to delete the paths (they will be replaced). This should get the version of Psychtoolbox on your machine going.
  2. If that does not work, a good start point would be to uninstall Psychtoolbox, then go through step-by-step again. These instructions should work just fine: http://psychtoolbox.org/download

You do not need any more than is stated in the instructions. Try that. If it does not work, you will need to be much more specific as to what is going wrong, by stating what the error messages are, details about your hardware, etc.

What you have said is vague and it will be very hard to help you if you are not more specific.

In general, most problems with installation come down to simply not following the installation instructions. It sounds obvious, you might think you have followed them, but this is where most problems stem from.
